How to Make Blühende Kraut (Blooming Kraut)
- Cube 8 red potatoes to bite size. Put in large pot filled with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until just soft about 15 minutes. Drain water.
- Put cooked potatoes in 3 quart baking dish. Mix in one can of sauerkraut or half of 32 oz jar. Season with pepper and garlic salt to taste. Cut up cold butter into slivers and scatter on top of potatoes.
- Cut one package of sausages into 1/4 inch pieces at an angle. Arrange cut sausage on top of the potatoes to resemble a blooming flower. Squeeze your favorite mustard on top of the arranged sausage.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
