My husband and I are competitive BBQ cookers and occasionly we have a burger catagorey . I have developed this recipe over the years and have done really well with it . My daughter-in-laws name is Abby and we love watching Downton Abby so there goes the name. This burger contains some sweet and heat and will leave you wanting a second!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 80/20 ground chuck
  • 1/2 pound uncooked pork and green onion sausage
  • 1/2 cup diced cajun sausage
  • 1/2 jar diced hot and sweet jalapeños
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease
  • 2 tablespoons "the ole homestead" crawfish jelly
  • 4 medium whole wheat, sour dough rolls
  • 4 slices havarti cheese
  • 4 tablespoons spicy remoulade sauce
  • 1/2 jar hot and sweet jalapeño slices
  • 1 medium red onion, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

How To Make downton abby burger

  • Step 1
    Sauté diced Cajun sausage and diced jalapeños in bacon grease, 2 min. Then add crawfish jelly , sauté till jelly is melted . Drain liquid off of mixture and reserve for later basting burger. Let mixture cool.
  • Step 2
    Spred out hamburger meat on tray , layering pork sausage , cooked mixture , salt. Gently form 4 burgers, be careful not to overwork burger mixture to keep burgers nice and tender.
  • Step 3
    Grill burgers over hot coals till internal temp reaches 145 flipping only once , burgers will continue to cook when removed, do not over cook!. Baste with reserved liquid from earlier.
  • Step 4
    While burgers are grilling , sauté red onion and sliced jalapeños in olive oil till tender.
  • Step 5
    Assemble burger in this order: bottom bread, romulaude sauce, shredded lettuce, burger, grilled onions and peppers, Havarti cheese, top bread with romulaude sauce. And enjoy!!!
