I rarely make my pot roast the same, but this one turned out so well I wrote it down. It also makes it's own gravy.

Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

  • 3 lb
    sirloin rump roast or your favorite type
  • 1 1/2 c
    pinot noir wine
  • 5
    garlic cloves, whole
  • 1 pkg
    lipton dried beefy onion soup mix
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1 pkg
    baby carrots
  • 1 lb
    button mushrooms
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • 1 Tbsp
    thyme, dried
  • 1 Tbsp
    tarragon, dried
  • ·
    salt & pepper to taste
  • few dash(es)
    worcestershire sauce
  • ·
    good quality olive oil to brown the meat
  • ·
    all purpose flour to dredge the meat in

How to Make Yummy Pot Roast

Step-by-Step

  1. Salt and pepper the meat, then dredge the meat in flour. Brown the meat in olive oil to seal in the flavor. The flour also helps to make a gravy out of the juices.
  2. Place the meat in a crock pot that is set on high.
  3. Add all ingredients except the carrots and mushrooms and and bring to a simmer, reduce the heat to low and cook for 4-5 hours. In the last hour add the mushrooms and carrots.
  4. I like to serve it with mashed potatoes and a green vegetable.
