90% lean ground beef
1 medium
jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
2 c
chopped onion
2 clove
garlic, minced
2 can(s)
(14.5 oz.) stewed tomatoes, mexican style
1 can(s)
(15.5 oz.) red kidney beans, rinsed and well-drained (can substitute no-salt added)
1 or 2 Tbsp
chili powder
1 Tbsp
cumin
1/2 tsp
pepper

How to Make Touchdown Chili

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, brown beef with jalapeno, onion, and garlic over medium-high heat.

    Drain fat from pan.
  • 2Add remaining ingredients, cover, and bring to a simmer.

    Reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes.
  • 3Serve with optional toppings of chopped scallions, cilantro, grated cheese or sour cream.
