tasty tex-mex style chili

This makes a delicious chili. Perfect on a cold Fall night. In the picture I've used ground turkey instead of beef.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced green chilies, undrained
  • 2 cans (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 diced tomato cans filled with water
  • 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 2 cans dark kidney beans, rinsed
  • 2 cans light kidney beans, rinsed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 pinch ground red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

How To Make tasty tex-mex style chili

  • Step 1
    In Dutch oven, brown ground beef with onion, chilies and garlic. Drain off excess grease.
  • Step 2
    Add remaining ingredients and stir to blend. Bring just to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Ladle into bowls and garnish with crushed Fritos corn chips or oyster crackers, shredded cheese, sour cream and green onion if desired.
