This is a pretty easy casserole to put together. The hardest part is waiting for it to get done! Add a few chips, salsa, salad, and cold beer or a margarita, and you got a great meal!

Ingredients

  • - #1 ingredients
  • - 1 lb. ground beef, cooked and drained
  • - 1 16-ounce can chili beans
  • - ½ cup tomato sauce
  • - 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • - ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • - #2 ingredients:
  • - 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • - ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • - ½ teaspoon salt
  • - 1 cup milk
  • - 2 eggs, beaten
  • - 1 14 ounce can cream style corn
  • - 2 cups of mexican style shredded cheese
  • - 1 4-ounce can green chilies, chopped
  • - ½ cup chopped onions

How To Make cornbread tamale casserole

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Grease a rectangle (8x11.5x2) baking dish and sprinkle with yellow cornmeal.
  • Step 3
    While cooking the hamburger, mix all of the #2 ingredients together in a bowl; set aside.
  • Step 4
    After cooking and draining the hamburger, stir in the rest of the other #1 ingredients in with the hamburger; mix well.
  • Step 5
    Pour ½ the cornbread batter( ingredients #2) into the prepared casserole dish.
  • Step 6
    Add the meat mixture (ingredients #1) on top of that.
  • Step 7
    Finish off with adding the rest of the cornbread batter on top of the meat mixture.
  • Step 8
    Bake for40-45 minutes.
