My hubby loves this dish and refers to it as superb...hence the name!! I have been making this for years for my family. We especially enjoy it with mashed potatoes. Make it for your family and I promise you will get "hugs" and thanks! Enjoy...

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. - sirloin steak, cut into palm size pieces
  • 1 14.5oz. cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons "better than bouillon" beef bouillon base, mixed with 1c. boiling water
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon pepper or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon kitchen bouquet browning sauce
  • MIX FOR THICKENING
  • 2 tablespoons flour whisked with 4 tablespoons cool water

How To Make superb swiss steak

  • Step 1
    Spray a 9X13 baking pan with non stick cooking spray. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees F. This could be made in a crock pot...adjust time to 8hrs. on low or 4-6 hrs. on high.
  • Step 2
    Place the sirloin pieces in pan and spread the stewed tomatoes over them. Sprinkle the chopped onion over the tomatoes along with the garlic powder, basil, salt, pepper and worcestershire sauce. Pour the bouillon over the top.
  • Step 3
    Cover with foil and place in oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until beef is tender. When tender...stir in the kitchen bouquet along with the thickening. Cook for another few minutes to thicken.
  • Step 4
    Serve with mashed potatoes or veggies of your choice and ENJOY!!!
