steak and mushroom gravy
In my opinion, round steaks do not have much flavor compared to other steaks. This recipe is great way to use a not-so-flavorful round steak, and turn it into a delicious tasting steak. I have used other cuts of steaks to make this recipe that are just as delicious.

Ingredients
- - 1 pound of top round steak
- - salt and pepper to taste
- - 1 tablespoon olive oil
- - 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- - 1 garlic clove, minced
- - 1-2 cups of white button mushrooms, sliced
- - 1-1/2 cups beef broth
- - 1/4 cup of dry red wine
- - 2 teaspoons of cornstarch or arrowroot
- - 1 teaspoon of butter
- - ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped, optional
How To Make steak and mushroom gravy

Step 1Cut the round steak into 4 pieces; salt and pepper both sides.

Step 2In a large skillet heat the oil on medium heat.

Step 3Add the 4 pieces of steak to the skillet and cook until browned.

Step 4Add the garlic, onions, mushrooms, red wine, and 1 cup of broth to the skillet. Cover and simmer for 1 ½ -2 hours

Step 5Mix the cornstarch with the remaining 1/2 cup of beef broth. Add to the pan and stir until slightly thickened. Stir in the butter and stir until melted and combined with gravy. Stir in the parsley.
