I got this from my sister who got it from a dear sweet lady who had it in her family for years My family loves this and I have to make it often.I have also done this with onion soup just omit the onion and saute the mushrooms add broth and then the onion soup

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1/3 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt and pepper each
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 large
    onion chopped using half
  • BROTH

  • 1 can(s)
    10 and 1/2 oz of beef broth
  • 1 can(s)
    4 oz mushrooms drained
  • 1/2
    onion the other half
  • THICKENER

  • 2 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    water

How to Make Salisbury Steaks (homemade)

Step-by-Step

  1. mix beef,bread crumbs.1/2 of onion,salt,pepper and the egg till well blended. shape into oval patties and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes take out of pan and drain,leaving a little grease
  2. in same pan saute the rest of the onion and mushrooms till onion is tender add broth bring to a boil
  3. mix the cornstarch and water together add to broth mixture reduce heat to low add beef patties back in cover and let simmer for 10 minutes
