With my German heritage I'm always on the lookout for authentic foods from Deutschland. I'm thinking this dish could benefit from some caraway seed, either in addition to or instead of paprika. Either way, it's going to be delicious! Recipe: recipelion.com 08-21-14

Ingredients For old country german goulash

2 lbbeef for stew

2 lgonions, diced

4 Tbspolive oil

1 Tbspmixed dried herbs (thyme, rosemary, marjoram)

2 tsppaprika
-
2 lgcarrots, diced
-
4potatoes, diced
-
1 can(15 oz) peeled tomatoes
-
3 clovegarlic, minced
-
1/2 bottledry red wine
-
salt and pepper, to taste
How To Make old country german goulash

1In a large skillet, heat olive oil. Add meat and cook until brown. Add onion and cook until transparent.

2Stir in carrots, potatoes, and herbs. Add red wine, tomatoes, garlic and spices and simmer, covered, for 2 to 3 hours. Add water if necessary.

3May serve with dumplings or noodles.
