This was a favorite when the kids were growing up.....and it still is!! And the kids learned a little German on top of it!!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground round
- 2 tablespoons fine, dry bread crumbs
- 1 - egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- - butter or margarine
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 can (11 3/4 oz.) beef gravy
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 - bay leaf
- - dash of cloves
- - freshly ground pepper and salt to taste
- 6 - english muffins
How To Make mach schnell sauerbraten

Step 1Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, 1 teas. salt and 1/4 teas. pepper. Form into 6 patties.

Step 2Brown well on both sides in butter or margarine in large frying pan with lid. Remove from pan and keep warm.

Step 3In pan, saute onions until golden. Add gravy, vinegar and spices. Stir well and bring to a boil. Return beef patties to mixture. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, basting occasionally.

Step 4Split english muffins; toast and butter. Place patties on muffin halves, spoon gravy over patties. Serve remaining muffins on the side.
