Ingredients

1 1/2 lbground round
-
2 Tbspfine, dry bread crumbs
-
1egg
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/4 tsppepper
-
·butter or margarine
-
1 smallonion, sliced
-
1 can(s)(11 3/4 oz.) beef gravy
-
1 Tbspwhite vinegar
-
1/8 tspground ginger
-
1bay leaf
-
·dash of cloves
-
·freshly ground pepper and salt to taste

How to Make Mach Schnell Sauerbraten
- Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, 1 teas. salt and 1/4 teas. pepper. Form into 6 patties.
- Brown well on both sides in butter or margarine in large frying pan with lid. Remove from pan and keep warm.
- In pan, saute onions until golden. Add gravy, vinegar and spices. Stir well and bring to a boil. Return beef patties to mixture. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, basting occasionally.
- Split english muffins; toast and butter. Place patties on muffin halves, spoon gravy over patties. Serve remaining muffins on the side.
