Meatloaf is one of those main dishes that meets a friend in every family.

  • 1 large
    egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    soft breadcrumbs (homemade)
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped green peppers
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 c
    finely chopped fresh mushrooms
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1/2 c
  • 1 Tbsp

How to Make Home Style Meat Loaf


  1. Combine first 9 ingredients in a large bowl. Add ground chuck, stir just until blended. Shape into an 8 x 4 inch freeform loaf on a greased rack of a broiler pan.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Combine ketchup and water. And spoon over loaf. Bake 45 minutes or until done. Yield 6 servings
