french fry casserole

This is a good satisfying dish. My kids always liked it. You can make it ahead and place in the refrigerator to put in the oven when you get home from work.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (i think you could use pork or turkey if you prefer.)
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 bag frozen mixed vegetables or your choice
  • 1 pound frozen french fries
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 can water
  • 4 ounces velveeta or american cheese

How To Make french fry casserole

  • Step 1
    Brown ground meat in a large frying pan. Drain off any grease if needed.
  • Step 2
    Add onions and pepper to meat and continue cooking until translucent. Salt and pepper to taste and add worcestershire sauce.
  • Step 3
    Place cooked meat in a large greased casserole.
  • Step 4
    Top with vegetables and then french fries.
  • Step 5
    Mix soup and water. Stir until smooth. Add cheese and cook on stove top or microwave until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  • Step 6
    Pour sauce over casserole. Do not stir.
  • Step 7
    Bake casserole, covered, in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat and bake another 20 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Remove cover and bake another 10 minutes or so until browned and bubbly.
