My DH especially loved this. The meat was melt in your mouth tender and the taste was a nice change from the usual. After you have it in the pot there is nothing to do but checking occasionally and adding a little water if need be.

Ingredients

chuck roast (stewing steak)
2 Tbsp
shortening
1
small onion
1/4 c
all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp
tomato paste
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
prepared mustard
1 Tbsp
honey
1 Tbsp
vinegar
1 3/4 c
water (about)
1
beef bouillon cube, crumbled (stock cube)
salt and pepper

How to Make Deviled Beef

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cut chuck steak into 1 inches cubes.
  • 2In a skillet with a lid melt shortening, add the onions and meat and brown for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 3Add the flour and mix well. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to the boil, stirring constantly.
  • 4Reduce the heat cover with a lid. Simmer very gently, stirring occasionally, for 2 - 2 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.
  • 5Season to taste. Turn into a warm casserole and serve immediately.
