This steak recipe is very similar tasting to the country style steak at K&W Cafeteria style restaurants. I use Uncle Ben's boil in bag rice with this as it tastes almost the same as K&W, but mine may be a little better, if I do say so myself! ;)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound cube steaks
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz.) beef broth

How To Make country style steak

  • Step 1
    Combine flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a shallow dish.
  • Step 2
    dredge cube steak in flour mixture, coating evenly. reserve 1/4 cup leftover flour.
  • Step 3
    brown cube steaks in hot oil over medium high heat about 4 minutes on each side. Remove steaks to a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Step 4
    add reserved flour mixture to pan drippings to make a flour paste. Add more oil or flour if necessary. Pour broth into pan and stir until smooth and thickened. Pour gravy over meat.
  • Step 5
    Cover pan with foil and bake in a 350 degree oven for 2 hours. Serve with hot cooked rice or mashed potatoes.
