broiled tenderloin steaks with ginger-hoisin glaze

Tastes like the steak you get at the hibachi place. This recipe calls for broiled steaks, but this works on the grill as well. Cooking time is for medium or medium rare steaks. Original broiling time is 6 minutes, but site wouldn't let me post it. I've found I have to decrease the cooking time because my broiler runs very hot. Use your judgement based on your experience with your oven.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili-garlic sauce, or 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 4 - beef tenderloin steaks, 4 oz each, 1 inch thick
  • - cooking spray
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

How To Make broiled tenderloin steaks with ginger-hoisin glaze

  • Step 1
    Preheat broiler to high.
  • Step 2
    Combine hoisin sauce, ginger, honey, soy sauce, and chili garlic sauce in a small bowl; stir with a whisk.
  • Step 3
    Place the steaks on a foil-lined broiler pan coated with cooking spray; sprinkle with salt. Broil steaks 5 inches from heat for 2 minutes, and turn over. Broil 2 minutes; turn steaks over.
  • Step 4
    Brush steaks with half of hoisin mixture; broil for 1 minute. Turn steaks over, and brush with remaining hoisin mixture; broil 2 minutes or until desired degree of doneness.
