black pepper pot roast mmb
I wanted to make a pot roast in the crock pot and I usually make http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/side/potatoes/country-pot-roast-by-freda.html But I am trying to stay away from most packaged foods, so this is what I came up with and I LOVE it. Add more or less of any ingredient. I just added a couple shakes of this and some grinds of that. LOL

Ingredients
- 5-6 large baking potatoes
- 1 medium sweet onion
- 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper, ground fresh
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 1/2 pounds beef roast- your choice on the cut
- 1 pound carrots
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, ground fresh
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme, leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano, dried
- 1 medium cabbage head
- 1/2 bottle merlot
How To Make black pepper pot roast mmb

Step 1Wash and cut the potatoes into about "2 bite" chunks.

Step 2Cut onion in half then into wedges.

Step 3Layer the potatoes and onion in the bottom of the crock pot. Sprinkle with the 1 1/2 t black pepper and 1 t salt. Lay the roast on top of that. Sprinkle with the 1/2 t each of salt, pepper, thyme and oregano.

Step 4Wash and cut carrots into 1 1/2 inch pieces and add on top on that.

Step 5Cut cabbage in half and core. Then cut each half into 6 or 8 pieces. Lay that on top of the carrots.

Step 6Add 1/2 a bottle of Merlot **Or you could use 2 cups of beef broth**

Step 7Turn the crock pot on low and let cook for about 6 hours or until roast is tender.

Step 8**I did not peel my carrots or potatoes, the choice is yours. **
