oil
3 lb
lean beef sirloin cubed
3 Tbsp
flour
1/2 tsp
pepper
1/2 tsp
dried thyme
1 c
canned beef broth
1 c
dry red wine a burgundy
1/2 c
button mushrooms
12 small
onions white out of jars

How to Make Beef Bourgugnon

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven to 325 degrees
  • 2Saute beef cubes in shortening until brown stir in flour , pepper, thyme scrapping bottom of skillet.
  • 3Transfer all into 2 qt. baking dish Pour on beef broth and wine . Cover and bake 2 hours stirring occasionally.
  • 4After 2 hours add mushrooms and onions and bake 2 more hours add more wine if needed.
    Skim off any fat and serve with mashed potatoes.
