My family & I love casseroles & this is one of our favorites. It's an easy but tasty comfort food dish to make on a busy day. Note: For a spicier version you can add a drained can of tomatoes with green chilies.

  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onions
  • 6-8 oz
    fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 16 oz
    frozen green beans, thawed
  • 8 oz
    sharp shredded cheese
  • 2 tsp
    beef flavored soup base or bouillon
  • 1/2 c
    boiling water
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Beef and Green Bean Casserole


  1. Preheat oven to 350*. In a large skillet, brown beef, onions & mushrooms in butter. Drain.
  2. In small bowl combine beef soup base (or bouillon if using) into ½ cup boiling water stirring until dissolved. Add to beef & mushrooms.
  3. Stir in frozen green beans & cook on medium heat for about 5 mins. or until contents are heated through. Salt & pepper to taste .
  4. Pour into greased shallow baking pan, sprinkle cheese over top. Bake, uncovered in a 350* oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and brown.
