My family & I love casseroles & this is one of our favorites. It's an easy but tasty comfort food dish to make on a busy day. Note: For a spicier version you can add a drained can of tomatoes with green chilies.

Ingredients

2 Tbsp
butter
1 lb
ground beef
1/2 c
chopped onions
6-8 oz
fresh sliced mushrooms
16 oz
frozen green beans, thawed
8 oz
sharp shredded cheese
2 tsp
beef flavored soup base or bouillon
1/2 c
boiling water
salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Beef and Green Bean Casserole

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350*. In a large skillet, brown beef, onions & mushrooms in butter. Drain.
  • 2In small bowl combine beef soup base (or bouillon if using) into ½ cup boiling water stirring until dissolved. Add to beef & mushrooms.
  • 3Stir in frozen green beans & cook on medium heat for about 5 mins. or until contents are heated through. Salt & pepper to taste .
  • 4Pour into greased shallow baking pan, sprinkle cheese over top. Bake, uncovered in a 350* oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and brown.
