My family & I love casseroles & this is one of our favorites. It's an easy but tasty comfort food dish to make on a busy day. Note: For a spicier version you can add a drained can of tomatoes with green chilies.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 6-8 ounces fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 16 ounces frozen green beans, thawed
  • 8 ounces sharp shredded cheese
  • 2 teaspoons beef flavored soup base or bouillon
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make beef and green bean casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350*. In a large skillet, brown beef, onions & mushrooms in butter. Drain.
  • Step 2
    In small bowl combine beef soup base (or bouillon if using) into ½ cup boiling water stirring until dissolved. Add to beef & mushrooms.
  • Step 3
    Stir in frozen green beans & cook on medium heat for about 5 mins. or until contents are heated through. Salt & pepper to taste .
  • Step 4
    Pour into greased shallow baking pan, sprinkle cheese over top. Bake, uncovered in a 350* oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and brown.
