Ingredients
- 1 package hot roll mix (16 oz)
- 1 1/4 cups hot water
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 1/4 pounds spicy Italian sausage
- 3/4 cup pizza sauce, plus more for dipping
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 - mozzarella stick
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese
How To Make touchdown calzones

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Brown sausage. Drain and set aside.

Step 2Mix hot roll mix with hot water and canola oil according to the package for pizza dough. Roll into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into an oval shape.

Step 3Place about 1/3 cup sausage mixture on each roll. Place about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce and 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese on each.

Step 4Bring up the dough edges and pinch them together to seal. Place on pan seam side up and flatten slightly to form a football shape. Let rise for about 25 minutes.

Step 5Place mozzarella strips on top to form a lace design. Bake for 20 minutes.

Step 6While still hot, brush with melted butter and minced garlic. Sprinkle grated Parmesan and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
