Ingredients
- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup pitted whole dates, chopped
- 1/4 cup pine (pignoli) nuts or slivered almonds
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded smoked cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded smoked gouda cheese
- 1 - boboli pizza shell
How To Make smoked cheese and onion pizza

Step 1Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Step 2In large skillet, cook onion in butter and oil over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3Stir in sugar, vinegar and dates. Cook and stir for 5 minutes more or until onions are golden brown.

Step 4Remove from heat and stir in nuts.

Step 5In a bowl, combine cheeses; sprinkle evenly over pizza shell. Top with onion mixture.

Step 6Place shell on an ungreased baking sheet or place directly on a pizza stone in oven.

Step 7Bake for 8 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting (if you can wait that long.) Can be cut into squares or rectangles.
