sloppy giuseppe sliders
A twist on classic Sloppy Joes. These delicious (and not so sloppy) Italian-style mini-sandwiches are a fabulous game-day snack. Everyone I've served them to has raved, even people who don't like traditional Sloppy Joes! Because the sauce is thick and chunky and the sandwiches are small, there is no need to worry about them creating a big mess.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
These sloppy Giuseppe sliders are an Italian twist on a sloppy joe. The savory filling is full of Italian sausage, tomatoes, garlic, and basil. It's fantastic with the sweet slider roll. They're a quick and easy dinner. Or, prepare these sliders on game day for a hearty snack.

How To Make sloppy giuseppe sliders
-
Step 1Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat; add sausage. Brown sausage well, breaking up links into small pieces with a wooden spoon as they cook.
-
Step 2Add onion, vinegar, garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes; stir until the onion is tender.
-
Step 3Add tomatoes. Stir for 30 seconds.
-
Step 4Add sauce. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, or until the liquid has almost completely evaporated. Remove from heat. Stir in basil. Taste and adjust seasonings.
-
Step 5Preheat broiler. Brush cut sides of roll tops lightly with oil. Arrange all roll slices cut side up on a large baking sheet.
-
Step 6Pile equal amounts of sausage mixture onto roll bottoms with an ice cream scoop. Sprinkle lightly with Parmesan.
-
Step 7Top each with 1 slice of mozzarella.
-
Step 8Place briefly under broiler, watching carefully, until mozzarella is melted and roll tops are toasted. Arrange roll tops over melted mozzarella and serve.
