pizza twist
This recipe is from The Pampered Chef. I have made a few small changes, such as using garlic powder instead of a fresh garlic clove and dried parsley rather than fresh snipped parsley. Feel free to use fresh ingredients--I just try to save time! Also, you can use whatever ingredients you want for inside the twist. We usually use pepperoni and black olives, but feel free to mix it up with your favorites, just as you would on an actual pizza. My family requests this ALL the time. It is meant as an appetizer, however, we eat it as a meal.

Ingredients
- 1 package (3.5 oz.) pepperoni slices
- 1 can (3.25 ounces) pitted ripe olives, drained
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 packages (11 oz. each) refrigerated french bread dough
- 1 - egg
- 1 teaspoon dried italian seasoning mix
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1 can (15 oz.) pizza sauce, warmed (optional)
How To Make pizza twist

Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 F

Step 2Dice the pepperoni.

Step 3Chop the olives.

Step 4Combine the pepperoni, olives, parsley, mozzarella cheese, flour, and garlic powder.

Step 5Mix well.

Step 6Place bread dough, seam sides up, on cutting board.

Step 7Spread the loaves open flat.

Step 8Roll dough crosswise to create a well down the center of each loaf.

Step 9Spoon half of the pepperoni mixture down the center of each loaf.

Step 10Gather up edges over filling and pinch firmly to seal.

Step 11Place the loaves in an “X” pattern on a rectangle stone or cookie sheet.

Step 12Crisscross the ends of the dough to form a large “figure-8.”

Step 13Separate the egg and discard the yolk (or set aside for another use).

Step 14Beat the egg white and Italian seasoning mix.

Step 15Lightly brush the egg white mixture over the dough with a pastry brush.

Step 16Cut a small slit in each of the top sections of the twist to reveal the filling.

Step 17Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the loaf.

Step 18Bake 30-32 minutes or until deep golden brown.

Step 19Let cool for ten minutes.

Step 20Cut into slices and serve with warm pizza sauce (if desired).
