pizza calzones
This is the way we make pizza calzones at the school cafeteria I work at, and we sell out every time we make them! The pre-made dough we get at school is round. That is the only difference between me making them at home. I know from school lunches that my kids would love these, but it was a treat for my DH and he gave it 2 thumbs up. No leftovers! I want to add that the calzones are very big and filling. There are endless possibilities for what you can stuff the calzones with. Sausage, green peppers, or anything you like on your pizza would be good.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
These pizza calzones are a fun, quick recipe for any day of the week. Using already made sauce and dough makes this a cinch to make. Shape the dough however you'd like; we had a little fun and shaped it into a U. They're filled with sauce, pepperoni, and veggies for a pop of flavor. But you can get creative with the fillings and use what your family enjoys. Garlic butter and a sprinkle of oregano and red pepper flakes is a tasty final touch. These are an easy dinner or they can be sliced for an appetizer.
