I love my mom's spaghetti and meatballs. She shared her recipe and I added a few touches to it.

Ingredients
- 1 package beef or ground turkey meat
- 4 large garlic cloves
- - salt and pepper
- - oregano, dried
- - garlic powder
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 or 2 - eggs
- 1/2 medium green onion
- 1 medium onion
- 5 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin
- - red pepper flakes
- 2 large cans of tomato sauce
- 1 - bay leaf
- 2/3 cup water
How To Make meatballs
-
Step 1Preheat your oven to 330 degrees. In a large pot heat tomato sauce. To make the sauce: In a large pot on low medium heat add 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, 1 large clove of garlic chopped, 1/2 onion chopped, and red pepper flakes. Let that cook for about five minutes while stirring. Pour in the two cans of tomato sauce, add about 2/3 cup of water. Top with a bay leaf and a bit of olive oil, stir and simmer on low. Place the meat in a large bowl. Chop up the remaining garlic, onion, and green onion fine and add to the bowl. Season with pepper, salt, garlic powder, bread crumbs, and red pepper flakes. Add one egg, if the mixture still seems too dry add another.
-
Step 2Mix everything with your hands until all the ingredients come together. Place in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
-
Step 3In a baking dish line the bottom with the olive oil. Take the meat out of the fridge and roll each meatball into the size of a golf ball (a little smaller than a golf ball). Bake for 15 minutes and turn the meatballs over so the other side cooks.
-
Step 4Let the meatballs cook for another 10 minutes then remove and place the meatballs in the sauce to finish cooking.
