  • 3 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    pork, ground
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2
    green bell pepper, diced
  • 3
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 5 c
    crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 c
    tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 2 tsp
    basil
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 3
    bay leaf
  • 2 c
    chicken stock
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper

How to Make Meat Sauce For Spaghetti

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add beef, pork, onion, green pepper and garlic and saute until browned, about 10 minutes.
  3. With a slotted spoon to drain off the fat, place the sauteed ingredients in a 4 quart saucepan.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  5. Slowly bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 2 hours.
