jodie's italian sauce

This recipe was given to me many years ago by a friend...She is a true Italian...this has been in her family for many years. I love to use this in my baked Ziti...I hope you will enjoy this recipe....

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 1 pound italian sausage, no casings
  • 2 large tomatoes, canned and cut up
  • 4 cans tomato paste, italian
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sweet basil, fresh
  • - parsley (italian)

How To Make jodie's italian sauce

  • Step 1
    Brown: Sausage, ground sirloin, and garlic, push to side away from grease. Brown: Tomato paste in grease for 3 minutes. Blend tomatoes to thin paste then add meat to sauce.
  • Step 2
    then add the same amount of water using the tomato cans to mixture. Add salt and pepper to mixture to taste, and sweet basil, stir every so often.
  • Step 3
    Let boil for 10 minutes. Put burner on simmer for 3 to 4 hours......
