This recipe was given to me many years ago by a friend...She is a true Italian...this has been in her family for many years. I love to use this in my baked Ziti...I hope you will enjoy this recipe....

ground sirloin
1 lb
italian sausage, no casings
2 large
tomatoes, canned and cut up
4 can(s)
tomato paste, italian
4 clove
garlic minced
salt and pepper to taste
1 Tbsp
sweet basil, fresh
parsley (italian)

How to Make Jodie's Italian Sauce


  • 1Brown: Sausage, ground sirloin, and garlic, push to side away from grease.
    Brown: Tomato paste in grease for 3 minutes.
    Blend tomatoes to thin paste then add meat to sauce.
  • 2then add the same amount of water using the tomato cans to mixture. Add salt and pepper to mixture to taste, and sweet basil, stir every so often.
  • 3Let boil for 10 minutes.
    Put burner on simmer for 3 to 4 hours......
