Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1.5 cups onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup carrots, grated
- 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
- 2.5 cups mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped parsley
- 2 pounds lean ground beef/hamburger
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons tomato puree
- 1 cup red wine
- 3.5 cups beef broth
- - salt to taste
- - pepper to taste
- - oregano to taste
- - garlic to taste
How To Make italian meat sauce

Step 1Combine butter and oil in large frypan and heat.

Step 2Add onions and saute\' for one minute.

Step 3Add carrots, celery, mushrooms and parsley; cook, stirring frequently for 5 minutes.

Step 4Crumble in ground beef and cook, stirring frequently until lightly browned.

Step 5Sprinkle flour over the ground beef and stir until well blended.

Step 6Stir in puree.

Step 7Add wine gradually, stirring constantly.

Step 8Add the broth and season with spices as desired.

Step 9Simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 1 hour or until thickened.

Step 10Serve with pasta.

Step 11Each serving is about 1 cup of sauce.
