I have never had any luck with spaghetti sauce until now. My daughter and I collaborated to make this delicious sauce that I think is the best that I have ever had or made, lol. I know it's cheating a little, but the additions make this recipe a keeper.

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion-chopped
  • - extra virgin olive oil-enough to coat skillet
  • 1-14.5 oz can stewed tomatoes-mashed
  • 1 package spaghetti sauce mix-dry in envelope
  • 1/2-26 oz jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (ptional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

How To Make i love this spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
Saute chopped onion on medium heat in skillet with enough olive oil to coat bottom of pan. Cook until transparent. Set aside.
  • Step 2
In large pan or dutch oven over medium low heat, add stewed tomatoes-mash a little with potato masher. Add envelope of dry spaghetti sauce mix, half a jar of spaghetti sauce, brown sugar (more or less-depending on your taste), sauteed onion, extra virgin olive oil, salt, red pepper flakes (reduce or omit if you don't like your spaghetti sauce spicy) and ground black pepper. Stir well. If sauce is too thick-add more from the jar of spaghetti sauce until the perfect consistency.
  • Step 3
Simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes-stirring periodically to keep from sticking. Taste and add more salt or pepper if you need it.
