I Love This Spaghetti Sauce
I have never had any luck with spaghetti sauce until now. My daughter and I collaborated to make this very delicious sauce that I think is the best that I have ever had...made lol. I know it's cheating a little, but I think the additions make the sauce really good.
1-14.5 oz can(s)stewed tomatoes-mashed
1 pkgspaghetti sauce mix-dry in envelope
1/2-26 oz can(s)jar spaghetti sauce
1 Tbspbrown sugar
·extra virgin olive oil-enough to coat skillet
1/2 tspcrushed red pepper flakes (ptional)
1/4 tspground black pepper
1 Tbspextra virgin olive oil
How to Make I Love This Spaghetti Sauce
- Saute chopped onion on medium heat in skillet with enough olive oil to coat bottom of pan. Cook until transparent. Set aside.
- In large pan or dutch oven over medium low heat, add stewed tomatoes-mash a little with potato masher. Add envelope of dry spaghetti sauce mix, can and half a jar of spaghetti sauce, brown sugar (more or less-depending on your taste), sauteed onion, extra virgin olive oil, salt, red pepper flakes (reduce or omit if you don't like your spaghetti sauce spicy) and ground black pepper. Stir well. If sauce is too thick-add 1/4-1/2 C water to thin a little.
- Simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes-stirring periodically to keep from sticking. Taste and add more salt or pepper if you need it.
