  • 1 cup water, warm
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin + more
  • 3 cups self rising flour + more

  • PIZZA SAUCE:
  • 1 - 14 oz cans whole peeled tomatoes with juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

How To Make classic pizza dough & sauce

  • Step 1
PIZZA DOUGH: In a small bowl, mix water, yeast & sugar. Let stand in warm place 5 minutes or until frothy. Stir in oil. Mix flour & salt in a large bowl. Pour yeast mixture over dry ingredients; with hands, mix together to form dough. Turn out onto surface; knead 5 minutes until smooth & elastic. Lightly oil clean dry bowl; add dough. Cover with dishtowel; let stand in warm place until doubled in size, 45 minutes - 1 hour. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface; punch down. Divide dough evenly into 3 portions. Rollon work surface, one at a time, in circular motion to form perfect balls. Place dough balls on lightly greased baking sheet. Cover; let stand in warm place 15 minutes before continuing.
  • Step 2
PIZZA SAUCE: In food processor, add tomatoes & juice, sugar, oregano, salt & pepper; process until smooth. Divide evenly into 3 portions. NOTE: Can freeze.
