baked ziti casserole

After making lasagna, I had some of the cheese mixture left over. I threw it in with some Ziti and spaghetti sauce and found it was delicious. So, this is a full casserole, that often is too much for just my fiance and I, but here you go.

Ingredients

  • 1 package ziti or penne pasta
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 package (15 oz) part skim ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 jars meatless spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 pound ground italian sausage - mild
  • 1/2 pound lean ground
  • 6 cloves garlic

How To Make baked ziti casserole

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta. Mince the Garlic, brown sausage and ground. Drain. Put sausage and ground in bowl and cover with spaghetti sauce. In small bowl, combine the egg, ricotta and ¼ cup Parmesan cheese.
  • Step 2
    Spread 1 cup of spaghetti sauce in 13x9 baking dish. Top with a third of pasta, half the ricotta mixture, 2/3’s of mozzarella cheese, 1 tbsp of parm and 1 cup of sauce. Repeat layers. Mix with spoon. Final layer is sauce.
  • Step 3
    Cover and bake at 375 for 45-50 minutes.
