Ingredients

  • 1/4 pound butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 2 cups chopped canned tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 3 pounds peeled, deveined shrimp
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups water
  • - juice of 1 lemon
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • - cayenne pepper to taste

How To Make shrimp creole

  • Step 1
    Melt butter, saute peppers, onions, shallots, and celery for 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add tomato puree and bay leaves and simmer for 15 minutes. Add shrimp and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Dissolve cornstarch in water and stir in. Simmer 5 minutes. Add lemon and season to taste. Simmer 15 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Serve over long grain rice, and with warm french bread
