french countryside bread (bread machine recipe)
Each week I make at least one loaf of homemade bread. I use this loaf to accompany dinner each night during the week~or until it runs out. If any is left over by the next weekend, I make croutons out of it. This loaf has a crusty top and a soft inside.

Ingredients
- 1 3/8 cups water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Step 1Measure and add liquid ingredients to the bread pan.

Step 2Measure and add dry ingredients (except yeast) to the bread pan.

Step 3Use your finger to form a well (hole) in the flour where you will pour the yeast. Yeast must NEVER come into contact with a liquid when you are adding ingredients. Measure teh yeast and carefully pour it into the well.

Step 4Snap the baking pan into the breadmaker and close the lid.

Step 5Press "select" button to choose the French setting.

Step 6Choose your crust color and press "start".
