rich & creamy tuna casserole

This is one of our favorite casseroles! It’s creamy and so easy to make, and it tastes so rich. For the picture, I used small bow tie pasta, and Ritz crackers to top the casserole.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound penne pasta, or pasta of choice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 can solid white tuna in water, including liquid
  • 1 can light tuna in oil, drained
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 2-3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 can mushroom slices, partially drained
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup italian seasoned bread crumbs, or 1 sleeve of ritz crackers, buttered & crushed

How To Make rich & creamy tuna casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain.
  • Step 2
    Spray 9x13 dish, or large casserole, with cooking spray.
  • Step 3
    Saute onions & celery in the butter until softened.
  • Step 4
    In a large bowl, combine the tuna, and the remainder of ingredients, except bread crumbs/crackers.
  • Step 5
    Combine pasta with tuna/soup mixture. Spoon into 9x13 dish, or large casserole, and top with bread crumbs or crushed Ritz crackers.
  • Step 6
    Bake for about 30 mins, or until casserole is bubbly and golden browned. Enjoy.
  • Step 7
    ** If Freezing: Leave off the bread crumbs until ready to bake.
