oven fried prawns
One of my most favorite meals is Fried Prawns. I developed this recipe from one that was way to salty and had other ingredients in it that my family would not like. But I liked the fact that you bake them in the oven instead of deep frying them and end up with Prawns that you would swear were in fact deep fried. They are very easy to prepare and when I make them for my family and friends I am the most popular person around! I hope you will try this recipe and that you enjoy it as much as my family does!

Ingredients
- 24 large prawns, peeled & deveined; tiger prawns/shrimp is good size
- 1 1/2 cups plain dried panko breadcrumbs
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large egg whites, slightly beaten
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt, 1 tsp. for breadcrumbs & 1/2 tsp. for flour

How To Make oven fried prawns
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
-
Step 2Purchase large Prawns/Shrimp like a nice size Tiger Prawn.
-
Step 3Clean and devein Prawns if they are not purchased that way.
-
Step 4Gather all ingredients.
-
Step 5Pour flour, lightly beaten egg whites, Panko Breadcrumbs and Olive Oil in 4 shallow bowls and add 1/2 tsp. salt to flour and 1 tsp. salt to breadcrumbs.
-
Step 6Dredge shrimp in flour, shaking off excess. I use a spoon to help cover shrimp with flour.
-
Step 7Dip shrimp in egg whites and let excess drip of.
-
Step 8Cover shrimp with breadcrumbs. Use spoon to help cover shrimp with the crumbs.
-
Step 9Press shrimp in oil on both sides. Add more oil as needed to coat all shrimp.
-
Step 10Set slightly apart in baking pan.
-
Step 11Bake shrimp until browned on bottom, about 8 minutes; then turn over and bake for an additional 8 minutes until golden brown and opaque but still moist-looking in center of thickest part.
-
Step 12Enjoy this Oven Fried Prawn dinner with my Easy Homemade Tartar Sauce recipe that has already been posted.
-
Step 13Make Ahead Hint: Bread Shrimp early in day and chill uncovered in refrigerator for 3 to 4 hours (the coating dries out and the Shrimp gets crisper). I highly recommend doing this!
