New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp

Shannon Smith

My husband fell in love with this dish on a business trip to New Orleans and decided I had to learn how to make it. The good news there is I got to go to New Orleans, not just for that but it worked in my favor. I found the recipe there and we love to eat this dish on special occasions.

*Note this is not BBQ as in typical BBQ sauce. This dish has New Orleans style "kick" (in other words spicy). It is a must to serve this with crusty french bread to soak up the sauce. A salad or greens beans are a nice accompaniment too.

How to Make New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp

  1. Combine all ingredients except shrimp and warm until butter is melted. This can be done in microwave or oven at 350 degrees. I use the microwave.
  2. Add shrimp and cook until shrimp are pink, this won't take long usually 5 minutes. If using microwave watch carefully checking every 1-2 minutes so you don't end up with tough shrimp which would ruin the dish.
