Ingredients
- 1 - yellow onion, diced
- 1 stick butter, divided
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 5 cups heated milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 3 ounces oysters, fresh, with liquid
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup sherry
How To Make *** mom's oyster stew ***

Step 1Saute onion in 4 Tbsp butter. Sprinkle flour over onions, cook 2 minutes. Add heated milk, cream & oyster liquid, bring to simmer boil. Place in bowl, keep warm.

Step 2Saute oysters in remaining butter, salt, peppers, until edges begin to curl. Add oysters to milk mixture, add cayenne & sherry, cook 2 - 4 minutes.
