Simple is usually best with freshly caught fish. Here is how my Dad liked his bluegill prepared.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh caught, cleaned bluegill
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • - vegetable oil for frying

How To Make hoosier fried bluegill

  • Step 1
    Clean fish and pat dry with paper towels. Mix dry ingredients in a plastic bag. Place fish in bag one piece at a time and shake. Fry in a small amount of hot oil until outside is crispy and fish flakes easily with a fork. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
