  • 2 lb
    fresh caught, cleaned bluegill
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • ·
    vegetable oil for frying

How to Make Hoosier Fried Bluegill


  1. Clean fish and pat dry with paper towels. Mix dry ingredients in a plastic bag. Place fish in bag one piece at a time and shake. Fry in a small amount of hot oil until outside is crispy and fish flakes easily with a fork. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
