Here is another Southern Comfort Food. Grits aren't just for breakfast anymore. Most seafood restaurants in the South serve grits on their seafood buffets. It's a good accompaniment for shrimp. I know you will like it.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled, cooked and deveined
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup quick cooking grits
  • 1 cup extra sharp shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

How To Make garlic shrimp and grits

  • Step 1
    Bring 3 cups water, whipping cream, butter and salt to a boil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium and whisk in grits. Cook, whisking constantly, 7 to 9 minutes, or until mixture is smooth. Stir in shrimp, cheese and garlic and cook 1 to 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
