Fresh Catfish with A Cornmeal Crust
This recipe was Mom's favorite way to prepare catfish.

- lemon juice
- 1/2 c
- 1/4 c
- yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 tsp
- each salt, pepper, garlic salt
- catfish fillets
- 3 Tbsp
- vegetable oil
How to Make Fresh Catfish with A Cornmeal Crust
- 1In a shallow bowl, combine the egg and lemon juice. In another shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, pepper, garlic powder and salt. Dip catfish into egg mixture, then coat with cornmeal mixture.
- 2In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Fry fillets, two at a time, for 5-6 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Serve with tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
