  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 12 sprigs thyme, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon peppercorns
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 cup lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 8 cups ice cubes
  • COCKTAIL SAUCE:
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup prepared horseradish (not creamy)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

How To Make flavorfull shrimp cocktail & sauce

  • Step 1
COCKTAIL SAUCE: Whisk all ingredients together in a large bowl until combined. Refrigerate & let flavors marry until ready to serve. NOTE: I like my cocktail sauce spicy with horseradish, add or subtract to your liking.
  • Step 2
SHRIMP: Combine shrimp, 4 C cold water, salt, thyme, peppercorns, bay leaves & celery seed in a large pot. Set pot over medium high heat & cook, stirring occasionally, when shrimp are starting to become pink, about 7 minutes.
  • Step 3
Remove from heat & add zest & juice. Cover & let stand, about 7 minutes. Stir ice into pot & let shrimp cool completely, another 5 minutes. Drain shrimp. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Step 4
    Serve shrimp with cocktail sauce.
