Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds fresh fish filets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 1-2 - eggs
  • - floured bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper, crushed
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 teaspoon of water

How To Make fish hunan style

  • Step 1
    Make marinade out of soy sauce, sherry, ginger, garlic and green onion.
  • Step 2
    Cut fish into about 2 inch pieces and marinate for 30-40 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Remove fish from marinade and save marinade for later sauce.
  • Step 4
    Dip fish in beaten egg, then in floured bread crumbs.
  • Step 5
    Fry in about an inch of shortening until nicely browned.
  • Step 6
    Set aside while you make sauce.
  • Step 7
    SAUCE: To the reserved marinade add red pepper, broth and brown sugar.
  • Step 8
    Bring to a boil.
  • Step 9
    Add the cornstarch mixed with water.
  • Step 10
    Bring to a boil once more.
  • Step 11
    Serve sauce hot over fish with noodles or rice.
