Easy down home fried shrimp

I got this recipr from my southern sister in law. I love these shrimp w/ a little tartar sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 c
    oil, either vegetable or canola oil will do.
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    milk, i used 2%
  • 1/2 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 lb
    lg shrimp, peeled, deveined

How To Make

    In lg pot, heat oil until hot. In lg, shallow bowl, combine all ingredients, except for shrimp.

    Mix until smooth. Dip each shrimp into batter. Drop gently into oil. Fry 2-4 mins, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
