Ingredients
- 1/2 cup each flour and cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon chinese 5 spice
- 2 pounds bass fillets cut into cubes
- 2 egg whites beaten until frothly
- oil for deep frying
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 large cucumber seeded and sliced
- 1 medium onion cut into wedges and separated
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp. water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- fresh cilantro for garnish
How To Make cucumber onion bass stir fry

Step 1Mix the flour, cornstarch and Chinese 5 Spice together. Get the oil hot for deep frying 350 degrees. In batches dip the fish in the egg whites then dredge in flour mixture. Shake off excess then fry until golden. Drain on paper towel.

Step 2Add oil to a wok or large skillet. Add the onion and stir fry for 2 minutes. Add the garlic and cucumber and stir fry for 30 seconds. Stir in the cornstarch/ water mixture. Then add the remaining ingredients. Stir fry until sauce is thickened. Add the fish cubes and stir fry another minute.
