- 5 ounces cooked cod, flaked and drained of excess moisture
- 3 tablespoons plain bread crumbs
- 1/2 tablespoon Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/2 tablespoon green onions (green part only)
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (adjust to 3/4 tsp if using bottled lemon juice like real lemon)
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried dill or 1 teaspoon fresh chopped dill
- 1 tablespoon olive oil

Step 1In a bowl, combine the 5 oz flaked cod, 3 Tbsp plain regular bread crumbs, 1/2 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 tbsp finely chopped green onion tops, 1 tsp lemon juice, a small pinch of ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp dried dill (or 1 tsp fresh dill), and 1 small egg.

Step 2Mix gently until evenly combined. The egg helps bind the flakier cod for cohesive patties. Add a pinch of salt if needed, but Parmesan adds some saltiness.

Step 3Divide the mixture into 2 portions and shape into patties (about 3 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick).
