Kind of simular to Long John Silver's batter.

Ingredients

  • FISH SOAK:
  • 4 - fish filets, your choice
  • - milk, enough to cover fish
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • - all purpose flour
  • BATTER:
  • 1/2 cup bisquick
  • 1/2 cup self rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 x large egg
  • 2 tablespoons corn oil
  • 6 ounces club soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make battered fish fry

  • Step 1
    FISH SOAK: Place fish in bowl & add enough milk to cover the fish & keep it submerged. Add lemon juice to help tenderize the fish. Cover & refrigerate 3 - 4 hours. Drain well & dip fish in flour to coat lightly.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, add flour, seasoned salt & sugar; mix well & set aside.
  • Step 3
    In another bowl, beat egg & corn oil; mix well & then add club soda. Add to flour mixture & add lemon zest, onion powder & salt.
  • Step 4
    Let fish dry a few minutes. Heat oil in deep fryer to 425 degrees F. Dip fish in prepared batter & catch drips in batter bowl. Fry 4 minutes or until brown & puffed up. Keep warm in oven on 275 degrees F. until all fish is done.
