This is a tuna tartar salad with seared tuna and a crispy rice patty.

Ingredients

  • 1 large Ahi tuna steak
  • 2 medium Ahi tuna steaks
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced green onion
  • 1 cup grated carrot
  • 0 - Gochujang
  • 0 - Kewpie mayonnaise

How To Make ahi tuna 2 ways with crisp rice patty

  • Step 1
    Place the two medium tuna steaks in a dish. Add 2 Tbsp of soy sauce, half the ginger, and garlic. Let marinate.
  • Step 2
    Season the cooked rice with the rice vinegar and shape into two patties. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Cut the large tuna steak into small cubes.
  • Step 4
    Mix the tuna cubes with the green onion, the remaining tablespoon of soy sauce, and the remaining ginger. Set aside.
  • Step 5
    Add the sesame oil to a skillet. Sear the tuna steaks until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside to rest.
  • Step 6
    In the same pan, add the rice patties and cook until crisp on both sides.
  • Step 7
    Place the carrots in the middle of a plate. Top with the cubed tuna.
  • Step 8
    Slice the two tuna steaks and plate to the left of the carrot.
  • Step 9
    Place the crispy rice patty to the right of the carrot. Drizzle the gochujang and Kewpie mayo over top.
