chicken/sausage white chili recipe

A friend of mine brought this to a party and was kind enough to give me the recipe. As usual I tweaked it a bit and it quickly became a family favorite. Great on a cold Colorado evening. I cut down on the jalapenos if kids are eating it.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans great northern beans
  • 1-6oz can jalapenos
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2-10 oz cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 3 quarts chicken broth
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound jimmy dean hot sausage
  • 1 pound chicken
  • 2-4oz cans green chilies
  • - sour cream, montery jack cheese for serving

How To Make chicken/sausage white chili recipe

  • Step 1
    In 5 quart dutch oven saute onion and garlic in oil until tender. Combine seasonings in small bowl; add half of the mixed seasonings to onions, garlic, and oil. Saute for one minute. Add sausage & chicken and coat with remaining seasonings. Cook until browned. Add beans and broth and bring to a boil. Simmer for two hours
  • Step 2
    Stir in chilies, jalapenos, and undiluted soup ( cream chicken soup). Simmer another hour.
  • Step 3
    Top with cheese and sour cream. Serve with tortillas or tortilla chips.
