Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons ghee
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon mexican oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon each ground cinnamon and cardamom
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 4 chicken thighs bone in skin removed

How To Make turmeric braised chicken with onion and ginger

  • Step 1
    Remove the skin from the chicken. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  • Step 2
    Add the ghee to a large skillet with a lid. Add the onions and saute 5 minutes. Add the ginger, garlic, turmeric, oregano, cinnamon and cardamom. cook 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Step 3
    Add the wine and bring to a boil scrapping bottom of pan. Add the chicken and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer and cover
  • Step 4
    Simmer for about 20 minutes until no longer pink. The sauce will thicken when cooked. Serve the chicken with the sauce.
