How To Make tommy's chicken and dumplings
-
Step 1Place chicken in bottom of slow cooker, along with onion and butter. Sprinkle parsley, seasoned salt, poultry seasoning, and garlic powder.
-
Step 2Add broth and soup, stir to combine. Place lid on top and cook 8 hours.
-
Step 3After cooking at least 6 hours, stir mixture, breaking apart chicken into smaller chunks.
-
Step 4Cut biscuits into quarters and add to crockpot. Push down into the sauce, so as to absorb into biscuits.
-
Step 5Replace lid and cook for remaining time.
-
Step 6I used 2 1/2 pounds chicken breasts, 2 onions, good sprinkle of all seasonings and 2 cans biscuits plus adding the mixed veggies.
-
Step 7In NC, 1-29-20, I made with 12 oz veggies, 2 lbs chicken and an 8 pack of grands buttermilk biscuits I cut into 8 pieces each.
-
Step 8In NC, 2-4-23, used 1 1/2 lbs rotisserie chicken from Costco, which was already cooked, but chopped it up,so cut cooking to 4 hours total, no need to chop the chicken. Added dumplings for the 2 hours. To eat at 715, started crockpot at 330 added dumplings at 515. Goal was 730 dinner, but 1st time I made this way...
-
Step 9In NC,5-29-24, I used costco chicken, and couldn't find plain cream of chicken soup so used Campbell's cream of chicken with herbs. Still did 2 onions, white this time.
-
Step 10When I got home in June 2024, I made it with two 12 oz vegetables, 2 yellow and ! purple onion (med), 1 whole carton chicken broth, 2 cans cream of chicken & herbs, 1 can cream of mushroom, 2 grands biscuits. SUPER GOOD!
-
Step 11In NC, Jan 2025 with Tori here, I doubled the biscuits (grands buttermilk cut into 8 pieces) and it filled their crockpot. However, it made it too thick, so after we ate a meal of it, I added another can of chicken broth and just mixed it up. Sent some home with Noreen, and she and her daughter both liked it!
